Computex 2012: ASUS, Acer, And Toshiba Tablets Running Windows 8 And RT Sighted
Expected to be launched at the Taiwanese expo next week.
The Computex 2012 trade show is undergoing extensive preparations and the booths are being set up. With tablet-frenzy not showing any signs of slowing down, and the Windows 8 launch approaching, booths of ASUS, Acer, and Toshiba have been spotted with Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets behind glass enclosures. As you may already know, Windows 8 will run on chips from Intel, while ARM-powered Windows RT can have silicon fromNVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Texas Instrument (TI). Reportedly, one of the tablets from ASUS is based on an NVIDIA chip, while the Toshiba tablet contains a TI.
The article further states that only a few Windows RT devices are slated to be released, although the list contains heavyweights such as ASUS, Acer, Toshiba, Lenovo, and even HP. Tablets running Windows RT have traditionally been displayed behind glass enclosures at trade shows and the photos from Computex seem to depict a similar scenario. Visitors are normally not allowed access to these tablets and it remains to be seen if that will be the case this time around too.
